How to Offer your Students a Mid-semester Evaluation

Mid-Semester Course Evaluations

The Center for Learning and Teaching offers two easy ways for you to collect comments from your students.

The Mid-Semester Course Evaluation survey is designed to collect detailed feedback about how well the course is working. It's an opportunity for faculty to make adjustments during the semester (if time allows) and, of course, to revise the course for future offerings. The survey may be offered once at mid-semester (or in some cases more frequently) and, if course correction is implemented, it can be repeated for comparison at the end of the semester.

The Student Feedback survey is designed to collect "fast" feedback and can be used weekly, after each teaching module or unit, or on another cycle deemed appropriate by the instructor.

To administer either or both of these surveys in Blackboard, simply download the package file, import it into your course site, and deploy the survey(s) in a content area of your choice. When you use Blackboard to administer either or both of these surveys, you assure your students of anonymity, and you will be able to view the collective results quickly and easily. Please note: the responses of individuals are not associated with their identities in surveys.

To import these tools into your Blackboard course site(s), follow the steps provided in the tutorial at http://clt.odu.edu/tools/mid-semester_evaluation.

If you have any questions, please contact CLT: clt@odu.edu or 683-3172.
