His research interests are in retailing and consumer services. In his recent work, he has investigated strategies that companies can use to improve performance of frontline employees, determinants of consumer innovativeness, and the effects of service recovery efforts. &nbsp;He teaches at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels, as well as in executive programs, and has supervised a number of doctoral dissertations. &nbsp;He also has completed several marketing projects in the community.</p> <p> Karande believes that, in many disciplines (perhaps in marketing in particular), students need to understand concepts and frameworks and to apply them in real-life settings.&nbsp; In this Conversation, Karande will present some tools that faculty can use to improve their students&rsquo; engagement in their learning as well as the students&rsquo; ability to apply concepts/frameworks.&nbsp;</p> <p> He looks forward to leading a Conversation that encompasses both his experiences teaching MBA students as well as executives, and his own business experience, and he looks forward to learning more about his colleagues&rsquo; experiences making concepts and frameworks easier for their students to apply.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p> For more information about the Provost&rsquo;s Conversations on Teaching and Learning series, including highlights from past years&rsquo; Conversations and a calendar of upcoming Conversation dates, visit the Conversations&rsquo; website at <a href="http://clt.odu.edu/pctl">http://clt.odu.edu/pctl</a> &ndash; or you can view past Conversations on your iPad.&nbsp; To get the app, search the App Store for <strong>CLT ODU</strong> on your iPad or use your Web browser to view the <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clt-odu/id528407622?mt=8">iTunes preview</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p>
