His research interests are in retailing and consumer services. In his recent work, he has investigated strategies that companies can use to improve performance of frontline employees, determinants of consumer innovativeness, and the effects of service recovery efforts. He teaches at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels, as well as in executive programs, and has supervised a number of doctoral dissertations. He also has completed several marketing projects in the community.</p> <p> Karande believes that, in many disciplines (perhaps in marketing in particular), students need to understand concepts and frameworks and to apply them in real-life settings.
