Brown Bag Lunch and Chat on Quebec and U.S. Diplomatic Careers

<p> Join us for a brown bag &nbsp;lunch talk &nbsp;on Tuesday Nov 25 from 12:30-1:30 in the 7<sup>th</sup> Floor BAL Seminar Room by David Fetter, special advisor to the Quebec Government, who will be discussing Quebec&rsquo;s International Relations and Policies as well as U.S. diplomatic careers for GPIS graduates.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Mr. Fetter is a versatile advocate and communicator across generational, cultural, and ideological distances.&nbsp; He is currently a special advisor to the Government of Quebec, assisting the Ministry of International Relations and its representative office in Washington, DC.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Mr. Fetter retired from the U.S. Department of State in 2013 after more than a quarter-century in the diplomatic service.&nbsp; His government career took him to posts in Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe, and North America, during which he:</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <ul> <li> Advanced U.S. national interests through complex bilateral and multilateral relations</li> <li> Managed substantial human and financial resources</li> <li> Negotiated a range of formal agreements with foreign governments and institutions</li> <li> Led creative, effective, and durable public relations initiatives that engaged targeted constituencies</li> <li> Advised military commanders in stabilization and counter-insurgency campaigns</li> <li> Navigated successfully the bureaucracies of his and other governments to achieve tangible results</li> <li> Cultivated strong personal and professional relationships with key figures from both the public and private sectors</li> <li> Advocated successfully for business interests in overseas environments</li> <li> Developed expertise in trade issues, political-economic analysis, and effective communication to diverse audiences</li> </ul> <p> For more information or to rsvp contact Dr. Peter Schulman, pschulma@odu.edu , or 757-683-3323</p>
