Copyright Expert to Speak on "Faculty Publishing Agreements"

<p> The Old Dominion University Libraries is set to celebrate Open Access Week with a lecture by Kimberly M. Bonner on the topic of &ldquo;Faculty Publishing Agreements:&nbsp; What You Don&rsquo;t Know Can Hurt You, Your University and Your Peers&rdquo;. &nbsp;&nbsp;She will speak at Old Dominion University on October 31, 2013, from 12:30-1:30 pm in room 1306 in the Learning Commons@Perry Library.&nbsp; Light refreshments will be served.&nbsp; &nbsp;The focus of this lecture will be the issues and perils facing junior faculty and graduate students when making agreements with academic publishers.&nbsp; Please come with your questions.&nbsp; Ms. Bonner will address them during the session.</p> <p> &nbsp;Kimberly M. Bonner is a creative, innovative leader with close to sixteen (16) years of experience solving critical, complex problems for constituents and clients involving intellectual property management.&nbsp; Ms. Bonner&rsquo;s IP management consulting includes patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights.&nbsp; However, she is most well known for her expertise on digital copyright issues that impact higher education.&nbsp;&nbsp; She worked for close to thirteen (13) years within higher education consulting and advising higher education institutions and staff of a variety of issues related to e-learning, digital libraries, MOOCs, open access and licensing issues.</p> <p> &nbsp;She was the primary editor and contributing author of <em>The Center for Intellectual Property Handbook</em>. She has presented at several leading national and regional conferences including: EDUCAUSE, Sloan Consortium, Harvard Law School&rsquo;s Berkman Center Roundtable, and Center for Intellectual Property Symposia, Higher Education Law and Policy Institute and Howard Law School&rsquo;s IP Empowerment Summit.</p> <p> Currently, Ms. Bonner serves as Senior Consultant at NDIP Consulting, LLC where she provides intellectual property (IP) management consulting expertise for businesses, non-profits, educational institutions, and individuals.&nbsp; Ms. Bonner received her Bachelor of Arts in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia in 1993.&nbsp; She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia in 1996.&nbsp; After graduating from law school, Ms. Bonner clerked for United States District Court Judge W.
