Apple Volume Purchase Program for iOS Apps Now Available from Monarch Techstore
<p> The Monarch Techstore is now handling Volume Purchases of Apple iOS apps and books as part of the University’s Site License Program. This program is only available to purchase apps and books for use on ODU owned iPads. Since the Volume Purchase Program (VPP) vouchers are considered gift cards according to state regulations, ODU will not be purchasing vouchers for this program.</p> <p> The Techstore will purchase the requested number of apps or books, download activation codes and then distribute these codes to end users to redeem and install apps or books on University owned iPads.</p> <p> We will not be handling any free apps since they can be downloaded from the Apple App Store using an existing Apple ID with an odu.edu email address.</p> <p> Most of the apps in the App Store are priced in two tiers based on volume. For 1 to 19 app licenses, the cost is the regular per app cost as listed on the App Store. For 20 or more licenses of an app, the price is usually 50% of the regular per app price as listed on the App Store. Some developers do not offer volume discounts for their apps.</p> <p> Volume pricing for more than 20 licenses of a book or iBooks textbook is not available. The iBookstore products may not be used in a library-type lending scenario.</p> <p> Here are the steps to purchase apps or books via the Site License Program:</p> <ol> <li> Fill out a Monarch Techstore Purchase Authorization Form with the name of the app(s) and/or book(s) you want to purchase along with the quantity, cost and total cost. You can attach a separate itemized list of apps and/or books to the form if this is easier. This form is located at <a href="http://occs.odu.edu/forms/purchauth03.pdf">http://occs.odu.edu/forms/purchauth03.pdf</a>. Once this form is approved by a Budget Unit Director, the form and any attachments can be scanned and emailed to <a href="mailto:techstore@odu.edu">techstore@odu.edu</a> or faxed to 757-683-3423.</li> <li> Once the Purchase Authorization Form is received at the Techstore, your order will be processed within two business days.</li> <li> Once the apps or books have been purchased, you will receive an email message with either the app or book code(s) in the body of the message or in an attached Excel spreadsheet depending on the numbers of apps or books that were ordered.</li> </ol> <p> There are two options for redeeming app or book codes. For individual iPad units, you can redeem each code that is ordered using an iTunes account. For departments with multiple iPads that are not assigned to individuals, there is a way to redeem app or book codes to use on multiple iPads without having to redeem individual codes on each iPad.
