Why are all the Black Students sitting together in the House of Blue?

While adjusting to college managing healthy relationships can be stressful. Students often seek out relationships with others that have seemingly similar cultural experiences. These relationships for racial and ethnic minorities can be called into question by the dominant culture, who might neglect to highlight they participate in similar relationship building techniques. An awareness and appreciation of how we, as human beings, choose to connect can be healing. Gaining a skillset to successfully navigate diverse relationships is a life-long asset that promotes wellness and aids in student retention.

This program is co-sponsored by: Office of Counseling Services, Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, and ODU-NABCJ.
