A&L Faculty and Staff Honored at ODU Faculty Awards and Retirement Dinner
ODU held its annual Faculty Awards and Retirement Dinner on May 2. Five faculty members from the College of Arts and Letters received distinguished University awards:

Provost's Award for Leadership in International Education
- Beth Esinhart, Director of IDS-Teacher Preparation Program
J. Worth Pickering Administrator of the Year Award
- Katherine Jackson, Master Lecturer, Department of English
University Distinguished Teacher
- Aaron Nachtigal, Adjunct Lecturer, Dept of Philosophy and Religious Studies

- Joe Jackson, Mina Hohenberg Darden Professor of Creative Writing
Society of American Historians' Francis Parkman Prize for his biography of Black Elk
- David Mallin, Assistant Professor, Communication and Theatre Arts
Best of the Festival by the Broadcast Education Association in the Faculty Narrative Film category for "Carmelita"

- Tim Seibles, Professor of English
History Makers Award from the Black Alumni Association of Southern Methodist University
During the last segment of the awards and recognition dinner, two retiring A&L faculty were recognized: Joe Cosco, Associate Professor of English, and Dennis Zeisler, Professor of Music and Band Director. Joe has been a faculty member at ODU since 1998, and Dennis started his career at ODU in 1979.
