Syria: ‘Syria chemical attack: UN Security Council voting delayed’, Special Broadcasting Service (Australia), 7 April 2017
Western countries blamed President Bashar al-Assad's armed forces for last Tuesday's attack in the town of Khan Sheikhoun. Syria's government has denied responsibility. The US, Britain and France proposed a draft resolution to condemn the attack and press Syria to cooperate with international investigators. Russia said the text was unacceptable and proposed a rival draft. Deadlocked, the Security Council did not vote on on a draft resolution to condemn a deadly gas attack, but continued negotiations.
