ISRAEL & PALESTINE: With 8 members in favor, falling short of the required positive votes and facing a veto from a permanent member, the UNSC failed to adopt a resolution to affirmed the "urgent need" to reach within 12 months a peaceful solution to the situation in the Middle East and would have paved the way to a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
