Duane Smith began playing trumpet at the age of 12. He studied jazz at LaGuardia High School and was a regular on New York's music scene and public transportation lines growing up. He shuttled back and forth between private lessons, and performances at nightclubs with legends like Wynton Marsalis where he learned to master his craft. Wanting to duplicate the opportunities he found in New York, Duane co-founded Peach Fuzz Entertainment and The Fuzz Band while attending Hampton University. With The Fuzz Band, Duane has participated in 3 USO Tours; including trips to Iraq, Europe, Africa, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey. Through his leadership and artist management talents, the band won the 1st Annual Capitol Jazz Festival, co-headlined the 43rd Hampton Jazz Festival with Frankie Beverley and Maze, provided entertainment at an inaugural ball for President Barack Obama and has been commissioned to entertain at Private parties for sports greats such as Allen Iverson and Bruce Smith; and for fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger.
