Jazz great Marcus Roberts presents a special concert entitled "Road to Freedom" as part of Old Dominion University's yearlong programming honoring 400 years of African American history and culture. "The roots of jazz music go back to 1619," Roberts said. "From their first days on American soil, African Americans celebrated their heritage and acknowledged their pain through music. But they were also describing a world that was equal and fair even when they didn't have access to it."
