JOURNALIST AND AUTHOR ELAINE WEISS
"The nail-biting climax of one of the greatest political battles in American history. Nashville, August 1920: The 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting all women the vote, is on the verge of ratification--or defeat. After a seven-decade crusade to win the ballot, this is the moment of truth for the suffragists, and Nashville becomes a frenzied battleground as the enormous forces allied for and against woman's suffrage make their last stand."
We invite you to attend the lecture of Elaine Weiss. Her recent book, The Woman's Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote, is getting a good deal of attention and is soon to be issued in paper by Penguin. Apparently Steven Spielberg is interested in a film version, with Hillary Clinton as the Executive Producer. This event is sponsored by the History Department of ODU.
