Glass captures the magnificence of light like no other medium. Lavish craftsmanship layered with rich color is a delectable delight, aching to be savored. But can extravagance in any form ever satisfy, or will it leave us always hungry for more? Let Them Eat Cake contemplates the innate beauty of the glass medium and our insatiable appetites as humans.
Curated by Jennifer Detlefsen and Kimberly McKinnis, this exhibition creates a conversation about human desire and the delicate balance between decadence and degradation. This Second Helping features artists who use glass to explore excess, ego, voyeurism and overconsumption while pushing the limits of ornamentation.
Come indulge the artists' innate desire to adorn, and envisage what it means to "Live and Die in Versailles."
