- This program of short works by ODU student filmmakers encompasses highlights from the 2016-17 academic year. Featured in the show will be the ODU premiere of “Carmelita,” the departmental production from the Advanced Filmmaking class held in spring 2016. “Carmelita” tells the story of Virginia teenagers Calvin and Poppy, who in 1969 buy a 1955 Chevy Bel Air and grow closer as they restore it together. “Carmelita” was the first production at ODU to use actual 35mm motion picture film, which recreates the look and feel of the 1960s.
