Description
Kathleen Aguero’s latest book of poetry, “After That,” addresses the complicated emotions and confusion in caring for parents with advanced dementia. It explains confrontations with dementia while also examining the psyche of the caregiver—the former child entering her own senior years. Aguero has co-edited three volumes of multicultural literature for the University of Georgia Press. She teaches in the low-residency M.F.A. in the Creative Writing Program at Pine Manor College and in Changing Lives through Literature, an alternative sentencing program. She has conducted creative writing workshops for caregivers privately and through adult and community education centers. This event is part of the National Poetry Month at ODU Virginia Beach. A reception and book signing will follow.
