- Comprised of resin layered with acrylic pigments on wood panels, the paintings of Kansas City artist Kent Michael Smith explore the collision between the human and the natural worlds. Solid, colored shapes float above diffused, organic backgrounds, harmonizing at a distance but creating a sense of dissonance at close range. Smith draws inspiration from motifs as varied as NASCAR graphics, hunting camouflage, and urban graffiti.
