ODU Professor Discusses Disability Activism on National Public Radio

Ruth Osorio, assistant professor of English and women's studies at Old Dominion University's College of Arts & Letters discussed disability activism on NPR's "With Good Reason," which airs nationally each week.
In recent years, activists from the American Disabled for Attendant Programs Today (ADAPT), a grassroots disability rights organization with chapters in 30 states, have made headlines for protests that helped stop the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Interviewed by "With Good Reason" host Sarah McConnell, Osorio explained that ADAPT's tactics fit into a long history of disability activism in the U.S., from the 504 occupation in 1977 to the now popular Twitter feed #actuallyautistic.
