Rachel Smith, Web Content and Media Specialist for Information Technology Services, is the Employee of the Month for March

Rachel Smith, a web content and media specialist for the University's Information and Technology Services is the March Employee of the Month.

Smith has been employed by the University since 2016.

Smith's efforts were recognized by Amanda Dunlap, communications and training coordinator from the Office of Finance, for spearheading a training video project for the Data Control Department.

"Rae was a tremendous help in taking the time to answer questions, and explain scenarios thoroughly while maintaining a positive and patient demeanor," said Dunlap.

Dunlap added: "Rae took this project on independently and worked hard to simplify our scripts and consolidate our message. Though the project took months to complete, the end result is phenomenal. Not only did Rae's videos meet our needs, they exceeded our expectations."

DETAILS ABOUT THE EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH PROCESS

The University Employee of the Month Selection Committee encourages employees to nominate their outstanding, "go the extra mile" colleagues and employees. This program is designed to acknowledge and reward employees whose accomplishments and/or demeanor exemplify excellence, quality service and commitment to ODU. Classified and AP faculty employees receive a framed certificate from the president, $175 and one day of leave. Hourly winners get $250, since they are not eligible to receive recognition leave.
