Lady Monarchs' Shae Kelley named to C-USA First Team

Old Dominion Lady Monarch junior forward Shae Kelley has been named to the All-Conference USA First Team for the 2013-14 season. Six of the eight first team selections are seniors.

Kelley started in every game for ODU and led the team in points, offensive/defensive/total rebounds, steals, blocks, minutes, free throws attempted, free throws made and starts.

The Denver, Colo. native averaged a double-double with 19.6 ppg on 48.9 percent shooting in C-USA play and 10.1 rebounds per contest overall (No. 36 in country/No. 4 in C-USA), while racking up 16 double-doubles, which ranks No. 17 nationally.

Kelley's 2.03 steals per contest ranked fifth in the conference, while her 7.1 defensive rebounds per game ranked No. 2 in the conference. The 6-1 forward went for 30 points three times this season and also grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds against Marshall. She averaged more than one block per game, which was good for No. 11 in the C-USA. Earlier this season, Kelley was named MVP of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tournament.

In the second round of the C-USA tournament, No. 2-seeded Southern Miss won its 12th game in a row, snapping ODU's six-game win streak with an 83-64 victory over the Lady Monarchs on Thursday night.

Prior to that setback, ODU's last loss came on Feb. 15 against UTEP. ODU also won eight of its last 11 contests.

In the second-round contest, ODU was led by Kelley, who netted 13 points, grabbed four boards, blocked three shots and came up with two steals in just 26 minutes of play.
