J&A Racing, ODAF Teaming up for 5K Prior to ODU Spring Football Game

J&A Racing, a world-class race management company based in Virginia Beach, is partnering with the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation (ODAF) to host the inaugural ODU Big Blue 5K. This brand new spring event will debut at 10:45 a.m. April 12 to help celebrate and kick off the 2014 ODU Spring Football Game, scheduled for 3 p.m. at Foreman Field at S.B Ballard Stadium.

The 5K will take runners and walkers through the ODU campus and have them finish at the stadium. Registered participants will celebrate their finish at the Big Blue BBQ immediately after the race, and are invited to attend the afternoon football game.

"We are extremely excited to be offering this new event with the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation," said J&A Racing co-owner, and ODU alumna, Amy Frostick. "This is already such an exciting time for ODU's football program with it being their first year in the Conference USA, and we are thrilled about this opportunity to help kick things off. Go Big Blue."

"As we continue to build local interest and support for our spring football game, we have noted that special events and other activities that anchor the day have proven to be successful at other schools," said ODU director of athletics Wood Selig. "The 5K race is a perfect way to start the day and leads nicely into the afternoon with our annual Big Blue BBQ and the spring game, followed by our baseball team hosting conference opponent East Carolina.
