Please take a moment to congratulate Dr. John Baaki on his recent publication, The effect of emotive case construction on knowledge acquisition and ethical sense-making in the Q1 journal, Journal of Computing in Higher Education. Co-authored with Dr.s Souder, Stefaniak and Dice, the paper delves into adding emotive content to case examples used in instruction.  Using a post-test only with control group design, the authors found that emotive content related to the characters' emotional reactions, background, beliefs and physical appearance could distract or overwhelm the learner.  The paper is attached here.
