- 2012 Women's History Month Celebration Talk featuring national award-winning author: M. Evelina Galang

Since 1998, Galang has researched the lives fo the surviving Filipina "Comfort Women" of WWII. In 2002, as a Fulbright Senior Scholar in the Philipines, Galang continued her work with them. Lolas' House: Women Living with War tells the stories of 15 surviving Filipina "Comfort Women." Galang's books include Her Wild American Self, Screaming Monkeys and One Tribe, telling stories of first generation immigrants and the diverse and often neglected history of Asian Americans while challenging stereotypes in the media. Galang directs the Creative Writing Program at the University of Miami.
This event will be streamed live to ODU Peninsula and ODU Tri-Cities Centers. At ODU Virginia Beach a reception and booksigning will follow the talk. Book sales at provided by the University Village Bookstore. Free and Open to the Public.
