Real Estate CFO to Speak as part of Executive-in-Residence Series

Dawna Ellis, chief financial officer of Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate in Norfolk, will speak at Old Dominion University March 17 as part of the Landmark Executive-in-Residence speaker series, sponsored by the Strome College of Business

Ellis, who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in business administration from ODU in 1986, will speak Tuesday, in Room 1005 of Constant Hall, home of the Strome College of Business. The address is free and is open to the campus community, and will run from 12:30-1:20 p.m. Pizza and beverages will be served.

The lecture is part of a series of events connected to the study and practice of real estate. ODU's Center for Real Estate and Economic Development hosts its annual Real Estate Market Review and Forecast on March 12 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Ellis joined Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate in 1984. She is responsible for company operations, including accounting, human resources, management information systems, marketing and research, and administrative support. She implements all company policies and coordinates company benefits and insurance policies and monitors compliance with employment and labor laws.

Prior to joining the company, Ellis worked as a research and development accountant for Lombert Lenses, in Norfolk.

Established in 2001, the Landmark Executive-in-Residence program is funded by an endowment from a group of former Landmark Communications executives in honor of the late Frank Batten Sr., former chairman of the executive committee of the Landmark board and the first rector of the ODU Board of Visitors. Its purpose is to enrich students' entrepreneurial spirit, awareness of the success that can be built through academic experiences and understanding of the importance of leading with integrity.
