Dear Colleague:

I want to join the rest of the Monarch community in congratulating Dr. Brian Hemphill on his selection as the next president of Old Dominion University.

Knowing Brian through the Virginia Council of Presidents, I have been impressed with the significant progress Radford University has made since he became president there in 2016. I know he will bring to our campus that same level of determination and focus on student success and academic and research excellence, while maintaining our strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.

During the remaining months of my presidency, I will be working closely with him to ensure a smooth transition. I am confident that - building on the growth we have achieved together in so many areas - he will help position Old Dominion for even further greatness.

First Lady Kate and I offer the entire Hemphill family our best wishes for a successful tenure.

Sincerely,

John R. Broderick
