Seville Partida presents Home Is Wherever I am Right Now
Seville Partida presents Home Is Wherever I am Right Now, a solo exhibition in the Hixon Student Art Gallery. Seville is the winner of the Faculty Choice Award which is presented by the faculty of the Art Department to the outstanding student, whose work shows great maturity and promise. The award comes with the prize money as well as with the support in staging the exhibition.
Seville writes in her artist statement:
Home is wherever I am right now considers the necessity of establishing a home whether that be attached to a place, familial links, or a sense of self. It reveals an effort to return to the explorative joy seeking of my youth after a traumatic adolescence marred by sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and mental illness. Reflecting on the effort it has taken to rebuild my own sense of home I examine what it means for humanity to maintain a home on this planet and our responsibility to steward such a place environmentally and socially.
The exhibition runs from Monday, Feb 5 - Feb 16, 2024.
