About this Program

Our certificate program provides licensed teachers with a fundamental understanding of online learning pedagogies, strategies, management, designs, and resources to better prepare teachers to teach in an exclusively online environment. This hands-on program offers opportunities for interactions and close consultation with recognized experts in the area. Your class projects are designed to create material that you could use in your own online classroom.

Program Highlights

  • For both degree program and non-degree graduate-level students.

  • Each course in this certificate can count for 90 re-certification points for in-service K-12 teachers.

  • Graduate students pursuing degrees in the areas of education, psychology, and business will find the certificate applicable.

  • Faculty from the Instructional Design and Technology program, Library Science program, and the Teaching and Learning department teach these courses.

Students entering the Certificate program in Online Teaching for K-12 Teachers should meet the minimum university admission requirements Graduate Admission.
  • To take courses for this certificate, you will need to be admitted to ODU as a non-degree or degree seeking graduate student.

Cost

Estimated rates for the 2023-24 academic year. Rates are subject to change. Anyone that is not a current Virginia resident will be charged non-resident rates. That includes international students.
