APPOINTMENTS/ELECTIONS
KAREN ECK, director of research development, elected 2014 president of the Virginia chapter of SRA, the Society of Research Administrators, a large national/international professional organization in research administration. She served as vice president last year.
KAREN L. SANZO, associate professor of educational foundations and leadership, appointed to two national advisory boards: the Charter and Autonomous School Leadership Academy Advisory Board and the Innovative School Leadership Institute.
AWARDS
LEIGH BUTLER, assistant dean for Teacher Education Services, selected to receive the Outstanding Advising Award - Academic Advising Administrator by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
JOHN R. HOLSINGER, Eminent Professor Emeritus of biological sciences, recognized by the Virginia Natural Heritage Program for his many years of service to the Virginia Cave Board and for his lifetime commitment to the research and conservation of caves and karst areas in Virginia.
ELLEN NEUFELDT, vice president for student engagement and enrollment services, the John Jones Award for Outstanding Performance as a Senior Student Affairs Officer for NASPA Region III.
CHRISTOPHER SEVILLA, marketing assistant for Monarch Dining Services, selected as a 2014 Aramark Outstanding Volunteer Award winner and a Bronze Jefferson Award for Public Service honoree. Award winners are selected based on a combination of factors, including longevity and commitment, impact of service and participation in Aramark-sponsored volunteer projects.
