Humanities Institute Colloquium on Public Art Begins at 3 p.m. Nov. 1
"The Public's Role in Public Art" will be the topic for the College of Arts and Letters' upcoming Colloquium Series, presented by the Humanities Institute.
The program is scheduled for 3-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries. (The time listed in the Oct. 28 edition of InsideODU was incorrect.)
It will address what constitutes public art in Hampton Roads and who gets to make such decisions. The cultural, economic, legal, social and spatial dimensions of public art will be explored and include perspectives of both scholars and practitioners.
Presenters for the colloquium are: Tim Bearse from the art department; Tom Chapman from the political science and geography department; ODU alumna and public artist Elizabeth Cooke '05; and Robert Wojtowicz, associate dean of the College of Arts and Letters at ODU.
