Eric Walters, a biology faculty member at ODU, has personal reasons to be interested in the waves generated this summer by the documentary film "Blackfish," a heart-tugging expose about killer whales - also called orcas - that are kept in captivity at marine amusement parks.

Football Returns to Foreman Field: A Photo Essay
ODU football returned to the campus last Saturday when the Monarchs hosted Howard in their first home game of the season. After opening losses on the road to East Carolina and Maryland, ODU was eager to get in the win column, and dominated the visiting Bison. As in previous seasons, tailgating abounded throughout the campus, and by game time the stands were packed with cheering Monarch fans.

Shane Greene, a sophomore from Williamsburg, finds a quiet spot to do some schoolwork in the garden area behind Kaufman Hall. A nursing major with a minor in military leadership, he wants to become an Army nurse after he graduates.
