Imagine a Norfolk where no child or college student goes to bed hungry. That's the dream that ODU’s Monarchs Give Back initiative is all about. This communitywide effort is gearing up again, and it's time to get excited!

Led by ODU’s First Lady, Marisela Rosas Hemphill, Ph.D., the annual Monarchs Give Back food drive is an opportunity for the Monarch community to reinforce its commitment to the success of our students and Hampton Roads K-12 students.

This year’s goal is to collect 25,000 non-perishable items by Sept. 22. Donations will benefit Norfolk Public School students and the Monarch Pantry, which is available to currently enrolled ODU students.

Let's Kick Things Off: Free ODU Student and Faculty BBQ Event

Mark your calendars for Aug. 30. We're kicking off Monarchs Give Back with a bang. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., head over to the South Gate of S.B. Ballard Stadium. Bring five canned goods or non-perishable items and your ODU I.D. and enjoy a BBQ sandwich, chips and drink on us.

Small Acts, Big Impact

Remember, every little bit counts. Your donations will directly support the second annual Monarchs Give Back Campaign. This is a chance to show love to Norfolk Public Schools and the ODU Monarch Pantry – two causes making a real difference in the lives of our community.

As Homecoming 2023 approaches, let's keep in mind that together, we can achieve amazing things. Monarchs Give Back isn't just about food; it's about creating a tighter-knit community where everyone has a shot at success.

So, join hands with us on this journey. Let's create a Norfolk where no child or student must worry about their next meal. Monarchs Give Back because united, we shape a brighter future.
