CPCU Credit

Charter Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Credit at ODU

Two risk management and insurance (RMI) courses at ODU have been qualified for the Collegiate Studies for CPCU program. Students enrolled in a degree program at ODU can have these courses count toward the CPCU designation:

  • RMI 317 Principles in Risk Management and Insurance: can be used for CPCU 500 (a CPCU foundational course)
  • RMI 412 Property Liability Insurance Company Operations: can be used for CPCU 520 (a CPCU foundational course)

Students who receive a B or better in these courses can count them toward the CPCU designation. These students can leave ODU with 25% of the CPCU completed, which will provide a big head start in the industry.

What is CPCU?

“CPCU® is the leading professional designation for property-casualty insurance professionals and the most popular Institutes designation. You can start earning your CPCU now, while completing your college courses.” For more information, check here.

Students who receive a C or better in RMI 412, can have it count toward the Insurance Company Operations course of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. Learn more here.
