Transfer Students

Students who wish to transfer credits should meet with a counselor from the College of Health Sciences. General education credits are the most likely to transfer. Students cannot transfer directly into the School of Nursing from another school of nursing.

Transfer|CLEP Credits

Students transferring to Old Dominion University from another regionally accredited college or university must send official transcripts to the university's Office of Admissions as a component of the application for university admission as a degree-seeking student. That office will complete an official evaluation of transfer credit upon formal admission to the university and will post the transfer credit on Leo-Online. To be considered for transfer, a course grade of C or better must have been earned. There is no limitation on the age of previously earned credits for transfer. Students are encouraged to complete all courses for transfer prior to enrolling at ODU. Check Monarch TRANSFERmation to verify.

Selected CLEP credits are approved baccalaureate degree requirements at Old Dominion University. CLEP credits may be used to fulfill requirements for selected liberal arts and science courses. CLEP scores must be sent directly to the university (Admission's Office) for consideration.

Transfer of Nursing Credits

Students seeking to transfer nursing credits from another NLNAC or CCNE accredited BSN program must submit photocopies of all nursing course syllabi for which they desire transfer credit approval. The School of Nursing Admission's Committee will review the transfer course content for comparability with ODU nursing courses and determine if advanced placement in the BSN curriculum is appropriate.
