Becoming a Better Leader
ODU and the Office of Student Activities and Leadership provide a variety of leadership opportunities for students. These include programs, retreats, services and publications to assist students and organizations in the exploration and refinement of their leadership abilities and preparation to become active citizens in the community.
Participation in these programs offers students involvement in campus activities and empowers them to be successful in the roles they assume during and after college.
Leadership Building Opportunities
Big Leadership Weekend
Head to Silver Beach for a weekend retreat to connect and have fun with other student leaders from around campus.
First-Year Leadership Experience
First-Year students have an opportunity to get involved with becoming a leader on campus through an overnight experience on the Eastern Shore.
Freshman Summer Institute
Build leadership skills and make new friends in a three-day intensive summer program.
LeaderShape
Create a vision and put it into action during this six-day intensive leadership experience.
Leadership Lab
The Leadership Lab is comprised of a variety of topics to help you improve your leadership capabilities.
Lecture Series
The Leadership Lecture Series offers leadership-focused programs throughout each semester.
Monarch Leaders Retreat
This retreat is designed for officers of student organizations to get together and further develop leadership skills.
ODU Comprehensive Leadership Program
The Comprehensive Leadership Program focuses on self-awareness, ethical leadership, integrity, and service.
W.I.L.D.
W.I.L.D. provides students with an opportunity to network with other student leaders and professional women.
