Intro presentation on black holes by ODU’s Planetarium Director, Justin Mason

“I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to.” - DONNIE DARKO

A defining millennial cult classic, stymied in its release by massive cultural shifts in the wake of the Columbine High School massacre and the attacks of September 11th. In October 2001, it seems moviegoers had no appetite for director Richard Kelly’s tale of teen angst and shocking plane crashes. Boasting a cast of future superstars (Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jenna Malone, Seth Rogan), the film quickly became a sensation on DVD and a dorm room fixture for a young generation coming of age in an era defined by disillusionment and disaster.

We'll be screening the Theatrical Cut of the film.

“After narrowly escaping a bizarre accident, a troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a large bunny rabbit that manipulates him to commit a series of crimes..” - Letterbox’d

“A haunted miasma of youthful alienation, suburban malaise, cosmic upheaval, and 1980s pop-cultural infatuation.” — Justin Chang, L.A. Times
