EVP, Chief Administrative Officer
Aubrey L. Layne, Jr. is Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Sentara Health. Aubrey began his tenure at Sentara in July 2021. Layne oversees several Sentara teams including legislative affairs, real estate, construction, supply chain, security, compliance, internal audit and privacy.
Prior Experience
Before joining Sentara, Layne served in Governor Ralph Northam's administration as the Virginia Secretary of Finance. Layne was responsible for overseeing the Commonwealth's annual revenue forecasts and administering the approximately $140 billion biennial state budget along with being chair of the state's Debt Advisory Board. He was also charged by Governor Northam to act as the state's CFO (an expanded role for the Secretary of Finance) and advised the Governor on all significant financial contracts entered by state agencies.
Prior to serving as Secretary of Finance, Layne was appointed to Virginia Secretary of Transportation for Governor Terence McAuliffe. As the Secretary of Transportation, he oversaw seven agencies with over 10,000 employees and combined budget of more than $6 billion and served as Chair of the Commonwealth Transportation Board.
Before becoming a public servant, Aubrey served as interim President of An Achievable Dream Academy in Newport News, Va., as President and Principal Broker of Great Atlantic Properties in Virginia Beach, Va., and as President of Hofheimer's Inc., based in Norfolk, Va. He began his career as a certified public accountant with KPMG.
Joshua Lesko, MD, FACEP (MD '15) is an emergency physician, clinical informaticist, and academic faculty member with extensive experience commanding the stage across national forums, executive boardrooms, and clinical classrooms. As an educator, delegate to the American Medical Association, and leader within the American College of Emergency Physicians,
Dr. Lesko regularly addresses diverse audiences on complex healthcare innovation, artificial intelligence, and clinical policy. His approach to public speaking bridges high-stakes decision-making and technical depth, equipping professionals to deliver compelling, high-impact presentations under any constraint.
Olushola Ilogho, DMSc, MPA, PA-C is a doctoral-prepared physician associate (PA), Hospital Medicine PA, educator, healthcare leader with nearly a decade of clinical experience spanning hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and urgent care. She currently practices at Sentara Health within a Level I Trauma Center, where she provides high-acuity inpatient care and contributes to system-wide initiatives focused on quality improvement, physician and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) engagement, mentorship, and professional development for APPs.
Dr. Ilogho serves as an Assistant Professor and community faculty member for the PA program at EVMS at ODU, where she precepts, lectures, and supports the development of future healthcare professionals. She is actively engaged in professional and organizational leadership, serving as the Advanced Practice Provider Representative for the Society of Hospital Medicine Mid-Atlantic Virginia Chapter, Vice Chair of the EVMS Alumni Board, Chair of the PA Legislative Committee on the Sentara Health APP Council, and a member of the Sentara Medical Group Quality and Safety Advisory Board Committee.
A published author, regional and national speaker, Dr. Ilogho is passionate about the power of communication to build relationships, influence change, inspire others, and amplify the voices of healthcare professionals. She views public speaking as an essential leadership skill and an opportunity to connect, educate, and create meaningful impact.

Kelly Brown, MPH, MBA, is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 18+ years of experience leading complex operations, provider strategy, financial performance, and transformation initiatives within Elevance (formerly Anthem) a national managed care organization. She currently leads enterprise provider resolution management and Independent Dispute Resolution operations (as part of the No Surprises Act), overseeing a team of approximately 1k employees and programs serving providers across 34 states and all lines of business.
Throughout her career, Kelly has delivered significant improvements in affordability, operational efficiency, provider experience, and digital transformation, including initiatives that have generated substantial savings while simplifying complex healthcare processes. She holds an MBA from Old Dominion University, an MPH in Health Administration from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and a B.S. in Finance from Virginia Tech. Kelly is also deeply committed to community leadership, mentorship, and developing the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Professor of Biomedical and Translational Sciences, Senior Associate Vice-President for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development and Director of the Fine Family Academy of Educators at Brock VHS
Dr. Anca Dana Dobrian serves as Senior Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University and Professor of Biomedical and Translational Sciences at EVMS. She holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the Polytechnic Institute in Bucharest and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the Romanian Academy of Sciences. Dr. Dobrian holds a faculty position with EVMS since 2000.
Dr. Dobrian has directed multiple graduate programs, including serving as Director of Biomedical Sciences PhD and Master's Graduate Programs from 2019 to 2022. She has developed and directed over fifteen graduate and medical student courses, including courses in translational biology, cell energetics, metabolism, and oral communication. Her innovative curricular work includes leading the restructuring of the biomedical sciences graduate curriculum in 2015, the development of peer-led instruction in evidence-based medicine for medical education and the integration of health systems science through virtual family cases.
She received the President's Faculty Award for Mentoring in 2021, induction as Master Educator in the EVMS Fine Family Academy of Medical Educators in 2019, and the "Crystal Apple Award" for best teacher and mentor in biomedical sciences in 2017. Dr. Dobrian is the current Director of Fine Family Academy of Educators.
Her research portfolio spans vascular biology, metabolic disease, and extracellular vesicles in obesity-related complications. She has secured over $12 million in research funding as principal investigator from NIH, American Heart Association, Department of Defense, and industry sponsors. Dr. Dobrian has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is a fellow of the American Heart Association. She has mentored over 100 doctoral students, research master's students and medical students, and numerous postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty.
As Chair of the Advisory Group for Institutional AI Adoption at EVMS since 2023, Dr. Dobrian leads strategic initiatives integrating artificial intelligence into academic medicine. She has completed specialized training in AI applications through MIT Sloan School of Management's Generative AI in Business course and Stanford Graduate School of Business's certificate program in Harnessing AI for Breakthrough Innovation and Strategic Impact. With a career spanning basic science research, medical and graduate education, and academic leadership, Dr. Dobrian brings a unique perspective to examining how artificial intelligence can enhance rather than replace the fundamentally human endeavor of discovery and learning.
