Currently, my students and I are working on jetting and fin movements in squids, stability and maneuverability in boxfishes, and sensory physiology of sea turtles.  However, I have broad interests in marine biomechanics and marine physiological ecology, and therefore, I invite students with backgrounds in biology and/or engineering who are interested in pursuing questions in these fields to join my laboratory.  A range of equipment is available to students in my lab, such as a digital particle image velocimetry system, defocusing digital particle image velocimetry system, motorized traverse system for animal movement tracking, high-speed cameras, seawater systems, swim tunnel respirometers, electromyography equipment, and water tunnels.
