Dr. Singhapakdi has been an active researcher. Since he joined
Old
Dominion
University in 1989, he has had over 70 articles published in some of the most respected journals in his discipline, including Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Macromarketing, and Journal of Public Policy & Marketing. His research especially in marketing ethics has been abstracted in marketing journals and frequently cited by other researchers. He has received recognition for his publications from Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, International Marketing Review and Marketing Education Review. He has served as a reviewer for a number of academic journals including Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal Retailing, Journal of Macromarketing, and Journal of Marketing.
Dr. Singhapakdi has also been active in academic conferences. He has numerous research papers published in conference proceedings and has presented his research findings at various national and international conferences including the American Marketing Association, the
Academy of
Marketing Science, and the
Academy of
International Business and has also served in these conferences as a track chair, a reviewer, a discussant, a session chair, and a panel member. As a doctoral student, Dr. Singhapakdi received the
Academy of
Marketing Science's Jane K. Fenyo Student Paper Award for 1987. As a professor, he has received Faculty Research Award from his college and has twice received Best Paper Awards at the educators' conferences of the American Marketing Association.
Dr. Singhapakdi's primary research program has been in marketing ethics and quality of work life. He has been appointed as a track chair on Ethics and Social Responsibility for numerous conferences including the
Academy of
Marketing Science Conference and the Macromarketing Conference. Dr. Singhapakdi has served on editorial boards of many academic journals. He has served as a guest editor for the Journal of Business Ethics and as a section editor for Applied Research in Quality of Life. Dr. Singhapakdi has also served on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Quality of Life Studies and on the policy board of the Macromarketing Society and the Editorial Policy Board of the Journal of Macromarketing. He has chaired the American Marketing Association's Ethics Committee. Dr. Singhapakdi was identified by Standford University among the top 2% of global scholars for their publications.
At
Old
Dominion
University, Dr. Singhapakdi has taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels. At the undergraduate level, he has taught courses in marketing policy and strategy, consumer behavior, among others. He has taught marketing management and seminar in buyer behavior at the graduate level. Consistent with his research program in ethics, Dr. Singhapakdi regularly teaches courses in business/marketing ethics, within which he presents students with the ethical ramifications of potential marketing decisions.
