First Ascent
First Ascent is a three-night, four-day adventure-based orientation program. The FA experience is designed to give you an opportunity to build supportive connections with other first-year students all while enjoying some of the best outdoor spots in VA.
All First Ascent participants will be able to move into their residence halls early on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. After you move in to your dorm and grab lunch you will meet your trip leaders and other participants at the SRWC. From there we are off to Pocahontas State Park for four days of fun! Activities include whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking, swimming, and more! More information on how to register coming soon!
