THE LAW is a very broad topic that provides the framework and parameters for commerce and business transactions. Each state has specific "commercial" or "corporate" statutes and/or cases that apply to certain transactions and do not apply to other transactions. "Business Law" in the 20th Century was mostly limited to local or state transactions, customs, and laws. In the Information Age, the legal environment of business, although still largely a creature of state and/or federal law, has global implications and may involve international law and conventions. For the business or engineering major, knowing the general framework is extremely important to the success of their future endeavors. It is my hope that my class/es will provide each student with a basic understanding of the law that s/he needs to thrive in his/her respective environment.
