Ajai S. Gaur








Ajai Gaur joined the Management Area at ODU in 2007.  Ajai's teaching and research interest lie at the intersection of International Strategy and Organizational theory. He teaches Business Strategy and Policy to undergraduate students and a Seminar in Organization Theory to the Ph D students at ODU. 

Ajai obtained a Ph D in Business Policy from the National University of Singapore in 2007.  Prior to that, he obtained another Ph D in Management from the Management Department of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 2003, a Master in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi in 2000, and a Bachelor of Technology from Indian School of Mines in 1998. 

Ajai is presently working on understanding the strategic adaptation of emerging economy firms during institutional transition.  He has also worked on issues related to MNCs' ownership strategies, staffing strategies and entry mode choice in international investments. Empirically, he has examined firms based in India, Japan, Germany, USA and ChinaSome of his research has appeared in journals such as Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies and Management International Review.  He has also published a book on research methods through Sage Publications.

Ajai was recipient of 2008 Richard N. Farmer Best Dissertation Award and 2006 SAMS/AIB Best Dissertation Proposal Award, both of which were given by the Academy of International Business. He also has the distinction of receiving President's Graduate Award consecutively for four years during his doctoral studies at the National University of Singapore.

In his free time, Ajai loves to read stories to his little daughter.
