New Chemistry Building
Free & Open to 1st - 12th Graders

Reign in Science Day is designed to get students excited about the sciences at Old Dominion University! All Hampton Roads students in grades 1st to 12th will dive into an exciting day filled with S.T.E.M.-based activities. Registration has closed for this event.

Safety is our top goal for this event, and mask-wearing is optional for those who plan to attend.

Come and visit the College of Sciences at Old Dominion University. Meet faculty and students in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Department of Computer Science, Department of Physics and more. Do hands-on STEM activities, see science demonstrations, a planetarium show, and take part in science-related activities.

All students in attendance will receive ODU swag!

Event Schedule

Introduction/Check-in at the New Chemistry Building:

  • 10-10:10 a.m. Introduction to activities

Planetarium & Group Demonstrations:

  • 10:15 a.m.-10:45 a.m. - Planetarium show 1
  • 11:15 a.m.- 11:45 a.m. - Interactive session 1 and Q&A at the Planetarium
  • 12:15 p.m.-12:45 p.m. - Planetarium show 2

Science Activity Stations (10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.):

  • ODU interactive science demonstrations outside the new chemistry building
  • Learn the chemistry behind tie-dying and bring a shirt to tie-dye!
  • Learn about the physics of our universe!
  • Learn about our oceans & coastal wildlife!
  • Meet current ODU undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty to learn about their research
  • Tour the new chemistry building and see the new educational and lab spaces

Free parking is available for the event in the Elkhorn Ave & 43rd Street Garage.
