To accommodate submission and processing delays to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Old Dominion University will extend admissions deposit and housing deadlines for all first-year students.

Timeline interruptions to the launch of the FAFSA Simplification Act, announced in 2021, have impacted the availability of applicant data to universities nationwide. To ensure a fair and equitable process for interested students, ODU has pivoted to allow updates to the admission and housing deadlines.

The admission deposit deadline has been extended until June 1, 2024. To pay admission deposits, please click here.

Housing applications and assignment deadlines have also been extended.

The new early action deadline is now May 28, 2024. Time-slot notifications for self-selection will be emailed by May 31, 2024 and the self-selection process will take place from Jun. 4 – 30, 2024.

Students may cancel housing reservations at no cost until June 15, 2024.

For questions about the admissions process and deadline, email admissions@odu.edu.  For questions regarding housing, email housing@odu.edu.

“We are committed to meeting students and parents where they are in their college decision-making journey by extending the time needed to make an informed choice,” said Ashley Miller, ODU Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. “ODU prides itself on providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all new Monarchs, including unparalleled orientation experiences to support the new student transition immediately following Admitted Students Day on April 6, 2024.”
