HRT Bus Passes

Hampton Road Transit (HRT) in conjunction with Old Dominion University (ODU) offers free local bus service. The free ride program is designed to assist Norfolk campus students, faculty and staff get to and from the University. The service is provided seven days a week. Bus cards are effective July through December and January through June.

Students:

  • To receive a bus card as a student you must:
    • Present a valid ODU identification card at the PTS office.
    • The card is free.  Students bus pass are valid for Fall-(August-December) and Spring-(January-June) semesters.

Faculty/Staff:

  • To receive a bus card as faculty/staff you must:
    • Present a valid ODU identification card at the PTS office.
    • Complete a free ride registration form.
    • Pay a fee of $30.00 per semester. (card will not be pro-rated and there are no refunds)

Replacement Fee:

  • Bus Card Replacement: Please let the PTS office know if your card has been lost or stolen. Replacement cards will cost $18.00 and only two replacement cards to a person.
  • You are encouraged to ask for and use bus transfers.

Handi-Ride:

  • Handi-Ride Information: Students, faculty, and staff assigned to the Norfolk campus can use the Handi-Ride free of charge with a Handi-Ride pass booklet. To receive a booklet:
    • Come to the Parking and Transportation Services office with a valid University identification card.
    • Proof of certification through the HRT Disabilities Program.
    • Disabled customers will be issued Handi-Ride booklets based on their class or work schedule.
    • There are ten passes per booklet. Booklet will not be replaced if lost or stolen.
