Deepak Sethi received his Ph.D. in Strategy, International Management, and Organizational Studies from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2001. He has two Masters Degrees – Master of Management Sciences from the College of Defense Management, Osmania University, India in 1991, and Master of Science, from University of Madras, India in 1980. He earned the Post-graduate Diploma in Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University, India in 1990 and the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966.

Before joining Old Dominion University in 2005, Dr. Sethi was an Assistant Professor of International Management at Oakland University, Michigan for three years, and a Visiting Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Dallas for one year.  Prior to his entry into academia he served in the Indian Army for 31 years, during which he held a variety of command, staff, and instructional assignments. He took early retirement in 1998 as a Corps Artillery Brigade Commander, in the rank of Brigadier General. During his military career he was the Editor of The Artillery Journal; co-authored a book; and scripted, anchored and produced a motivational film for the Army – “Pause to Ponder: Ethics Values and the Soldier”.

Dr. Sethi's research interests include the areas of multinational enterprise strategies/capabilities to cope with the complexity of the international business environment, and foreign direct investment trends. He has several publications in top peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of International Business Studies, International Business Review and the Journal of International Management.
