*Official transcripts are defined as those sent directly from the institution or selected electronic service (i.e. Parchment) to Old Dominion University. Transcripts emailed from the student to ODU are not acceptable.

Completion of a transferable associate's degree in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) or Richard Bland College (RBC) will waive the university's lower level general education requirements. However, there may be additional lower level requirements for your program.
This does not guarantee junior standing for enrollment and financial aid verification. We will still conduct a course-by-course evaluation of credits. Junior standing is reached upon earning/transferring at least 58 credit hours.
Associate's degrees earned at institutions other than those within the VCCS or RBC will be reviewed individually for parallel curricula.
Admission to Old Dominion University does not guarantee admission to a specific degree program. The following programs require an additional application once a student has been admitted to the university:
- Dental Hygiene
- Environmental Health
- Medical Technology
- Nuclear Medicine Technology
- Ophthalmic Technology
Monarch TRANSFERmation is a massive online database of transfer information. It includes courses that have been reviewed for credit from U.S. institutions. It is not an exhaustive database. Generally, lower level general education courses in the areas of math, English, science, and humanities with a grade of C (2.0) or better are transferrable.

Monitor Your Application Status
Students can check the status of their application through our online status check. From the admissions menu, students can view their status/application decision and check the dates that the office received their credentials. Note: Students who did not submit their social security number with their application, will need to contact the Office of Admissions at 757-683-3685 to log-in to the online status check.
Students will receive notification of their admissions decision via the mail or can find out by using the online status check. Decisions will be mailed to the address submitted on the application. If a student is accepted to Old Dominion University, the acceptance packet will include information regarding the enrollment steps. If a student elects to use the online status check, the decision will be posted in the "Application Status" section as soon as it is made.
