National First-Gen Day was Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020.

In honor of National First-Gen Day, individuals and groups on campus celebrated the occasion in a number of ways. Happy National First-Gen Day to all of our first-gen students, faculty, groups, organizations, and friends.


47 ODU Students Inducted into National Honor Society for First-Generation Students

In addition, President John R. Broderick and First Lady Kate Broderick were honorary inductees as part of the University’s initial Alpha Alpha Alpha class.

As part of the ODU F1RST Living-Learning Community (LLC), students in Crystal Nolan and Heather Weddington's classes produced spoken word poems. Browse through and enjoy their thoughtful and poignant videos.

On Thursday, November 5, ODU's F1RST Peer Mentors took over ODU's Instagram page as they showcased a "day in the life" of a first-gen. Watch highlight clips below.
