"The College of Sciences 2019 Outstanding Staff Member of the Year Award" goes to Ariel Sturtevant, Department of Computer Science. Ariel has been with the college since May 2016 and serves as the Graduate Program Coordinator and Financial Services Assistant for Computer Science. A native of the Richmond, VA area, Ariel attended Virginia Union University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science and a Master's in Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ariel has also served as a former intern to U.S. Senator Mark Warner. Among Ariel's talents is the ability to assist the faculty, staff, and students as needed often above and beyond the call of duty. She is great at organizing events and for generating publicity to support the events she organizes by creating professional style flyers. Ariel also generates announcements that are shared via Twitter. Currently working on her Ph.D. in International Studies in the College of Arts & Letters at ODU. When not working or studying, Ariel loves spending time with family fishing at the bay and hosting parties for friends.
