On May 7, 2020, the Old Dominion University Police Department (ODUPD) received notification from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement (IACLEA) congratulating the department on its recent accreditation achievement.

IACLEA acknowledges departments that conform to the highest professional standards for campus law enforcement. The accreditation process included an assessment and peer review of our effectiveness in fulfilling various key standards of campus policing such as crime prevention programs, emergency notifications, Clery compliance and Title IX reporting. The review process also considered the department's recent accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agency (CALEA), which measured our adherence to 460 additional standards.

These prestigious accreditation achievements reflect your continued commitment to conform to the highest professional standards specific to law enforcement agencies; and we are the twenty-second (22) university law enforcement agency in the United States to obtain dual accreditation. Our university and extended community expect to receive our finest service and we will constantly strive to meet or exceed those expectations. The department will continue to function with the highest degree of integrity, accountability, and professionalism by the continual promulgation of standards set by CALEA and IACLEA.

The accreditation is for four (4) years, during which, we will be required to submit annual reports demonstrating continued compliance with the standards under which we were initially accredited.

I thank each of you for your continued efforts and support in the attainment of our accreditation achievements.
