SECURITY VERSUS TECHNOLOGY IS SUBJECT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE COLLOQUIUM SEPT. 26

Hillary Holden Hosmer, founder of Data Security Inc., will speak on "Security versus Technology" at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 in room 226 of the Education Building as part of the Department of Computer Science Colloquium Series.

The talk will explore the paradigm of President George W. Bush's national computer security plan looking at underlying assumptions and missing elements including how it balances the competing needs of freedom and safety, timeliness and thoroughness, and performance and accountability. Hosmer earned her bachelor's in economics from Bryn Mawr College and her master's in education from the University of Massachusetts.

She founded Data Security, Inc. in 1990 to find solutions to "impossible" problems. Data Security's clients include the Air Force, the Navy, National Security Agency, as well as corporate and non-profit organizations.
