ODU Web Redesign Nears Initial Launch

Monarchs,

This email is part of a series of regular updates on the progress of the Website Redesign Project (WRP).

This past month the WRP has neared completion of the Delivery Phase. The site has been delivered to ODU, content migration and quality assurance (QA) testing continue, and the content migration for Wave 1 pages is complete. This is an exciting time for the WRP, as we are quickly approaching a go-live milestone during the week of Oct. 31.

  • During this initial launch, units included in Wave 1 will be the first to migrate from our old Adobe Experience Manager site (AEM) to our new Drupal site. The list of units included in each Wave will remain up to date on the WRP website.
  • Regardless of when your unit's pages are migrated, the entire website will receive an exciting face-lift! You will see a new header, footer and side navigation on all pages of the odu.edu website. This includes a brand new Mega menu, as well as updated site-specific side navigation menus. You can get a sneak peek at the new page designs on the WRP website.

Here's what you can do to prepare for launch:

  • When you copy and share the URL for your web pages, please leave off the www./ww1. that comes before the "odu." Get in the habit of sharing only the odu.edu and everything that follows. This is because our website will live on two content management systems (CMS) until all waves have been migrated to our new Drupal website (summer 2023).
  • Confirm that personal information on your Directory Page is correct and up to date. If it isn't, make updates using Monarch Profile Manager.

The WRP team will continue to work with content managers and Wave 1 units across campus to prepare their sites for launch. For project phases and timelines, migration/wave planning, prior communications, and FAQs, please visit our Website Redesign Project Website or email webredesign@odu.ed with questions.

Please be on the lookout for additional WRP emails as we announce more go-live details.
